Church Groups

At St. Peter’s, much of the ‘pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical’ work of the PCC is done together by seven Subcommitteess made up of PCC members and other members of the congregation.

The Pastoral Subcommittee
deals with pastoral care for those within and without the congregation. The Mission Subcommittee looks at how we may grow, spiritually and numerically.
The Churchwardens have a major responsibility for the ‘fabric’ of the church and are helped in this by the Buildings, Fabric & Grounds Subcommittee which looks at our physical environment with regard to maintenance and repair.
Finance and Fundraising looks at giving, management of accounts, and growth in resources.
The Social Subcommittee looks to organize social events, and to facilitate the fellowship of the congregation.
The Hall Management Subcommittee deals with the running of the Hall, one of our most precious assets, and its day-to-day upkeep.
The Junior Church Subcommittee looks at all the issues regarding our provision for children and young people.

In addition, there are other groups of people that provide help at St. Peter’s. These include the Servers, Lesson Readers, Leaders of Intercessions, those on the Coffee Rota for after the 10.00am Sunday Communion Service, the Altar Guild who clean and care for the Sanctuary and Chancel, and the Counters who count and bank the Sunday plate collections. The Flower Arrangers decorate the church each week and provide special displays for the different seasons and particular events, including weddings.

For Lent Groups and other courses, see under What's On/Courses.

All these jobs are vital to the smooth running of our church.
