Ruth Miller has been appointed St Peter's Children's and Families' Missioner. She comes to us under the 'Growing Younger' initiative, a new diocesan-wide scheme, offered to sixteen churches, within the overall mission strategy of ‘Transforming Church’.
Ruth's job, as well as modelling good practice and ‘doing the work of an evangelist’ will be to recruit, train, equip and inspire the congregation to reach out to younger generations in the parish.
These Children’s and Families’ Missioners will work 21 hours a week for three years funded by the Diocesan Board of Finance.
As Bishop David says, "The aim is precisely to pass on the baton of the Christian gospel to children and families, students and young adults, as part of our vision of growing churches at the heart of each community."
We welcome Ruth to St Peter's and look forward to interacting with her.
The September edition of the Parish Magazine gives a very interesting article about Ruth and her family.

RIP Michael Counsell 1935 - 2015

The death of Michael Counsell, former vicar of St Peter's (1976 -89), is sad for many who knew him. A service of Thanksgiving and Commendation  was held on 5 August when we celebrated his very full life. The church was packed, showing how many peoples' hearts he had touched.
See here for an obituary taken from the September edition of the Parish Magazine.

Church Hall Garden Path Project

The Garden Group is raising money to have the crazy-paved path professionally relaid for health and safety reasons and wheelchair access.
It is now nearly 15 years since we laid the path out of stone dug up from the site. The first phase of the work has started and nearly all the cost has been raised by us.
Alfie and Henry making a beautiful job of the crazy-paving path.

The second phase, which will cost over £1500, is pending, subject to funds.
If you enjoy the garden facilities and can help by donating towards the project, we should be very grateful.
Donations, please to the Parish Office (in an envelope marked Garden Path) or to any of the Garden Group.
