Part of the joy of being a parish church is that we share in the key moments in the life of the community. For more information on how we can accompany you in these moments, please see below.

Baptism

Be welcomed into the Church community

Baptism (or Christening) is the way new Christians are made and welcomed into God's church. It is a beautiful and symbolic service in which the Christian symbols of the cross, water and light play an important part.

Baptism is open to all. Children who live within the parish can be baptised here, as can adults who attend St Peter's and prepare with a time of prayer and study.

If you wish to be baptised, or have your child baptised, please contact the Parish Office.

Weddings

St Peter's is a beautiful church and weddings have been taking place here for at least 700 years. Marriage in church is a joyful, profound and beautiful occasion during which the bride and groom make vows in the presence of God to love and cherish one another “til death us do part". If you would like to be married at St Peter's we would be delighted to accompany you on this journey.

Funerals

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord

The death of a loved one can be a very difficult time. The funeral is an important opportunity to commend the departed person to God's love and care, to give thanks for that person's life, and to comfort and support one another in grief.

One of the ministry team at St Peter’s will work with you to plan the service and will support you throughout the process.

The funeral directors will usually make contact with us if you wish to arrange a funeral at St Peter’s, but if you would like to speak to someone for more information, please contact the Parish Office.
