Save our Tower!

The current state of the sandstone

What could happen if nothing is done
How it could look
St Peter’s Church tower has been a Harborne landmark for 700 years - but for how much longer? The much-loved tower is desperately in need of some care: the stonework is crumbling and urgently needs to be repaired. Otherwise it could be permanently shrouded in scaffolding to avoid falling stonework - like in the picture above. However, with restoration, the tower could look more like the picture on the right
In all we are hoping to raise £700,000 as, besides the repairs to the stonework, the weather vane needs re-erecting and the clock re-gilding. Could YOU be a Tower of Strength to this tower in need? Could YOU help to save this precious building so that it can support the community in the future, as a place of worship, a location for weddings, a venue for concerts, and more . . . . ?
Please support fund-raising events in the coming months. For instance, there will be a
Flower Festival at Petertide in June, from 25 - 28 (see here for details on how you can take part). Please put the date in your diary!
Before that, on
Sunday 3 May at 4.00-5.00pm, the Sennet Brass Ensemble are giving a concert in church - 'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'
Saturday 9 May at 7.00pm, the Pelsall Ladies Choir will be performing an 'Evening of Spring Music' in church.
Many more events will be planned.
